It was one of the biggest auctions Swifts Creek has seen in a long, long time and it provided the biggest win for the local bush nursing centre.

Many of the community’s residents turned out on Saturday to see who would place the winning bid for five acres of land at 10-14 Factory Lane, on the outskirts of town.
This wasn’t just any ordinary five acre spread.
The main house on the property had been built in the late 1800s and had been occupied by two of the town’s matriach’s in Pat Oram and Edna Gale, who both passed away in their 90s.
The women had left their stamp on the town by campaigning and driving the construction of a swimming pool in Swifts Creek so the children, and their parents, would have somewhere to cool off in the summer months.
